From BIRO to European health indicators
The work developed in sequence: BIRO established the shared standards and local analysis model; EUBIROD expanded it across Europe; BRIDGE Health extended it to chronic-disease registries; CHIEF now applies the experience to sustainable NCD indicators.
BIRO
Built a shared European diabetes information system with common data definitions, distributed statistical analysis and privacy-conscious reporting.
EUBIROD
Expanded the BIRO network to European scale, developing the European Diabetes Report, common methods, partner training and the BIRO Academy.
BRIDGE Health
Generalised the EUBIROD approach to population-based chronic-disease registries, shared indicators, open-source tools and privacy-enhanced analysis.
